I referred some friends, but they can't add their card to Apple Pay or Google Pay

Many referral promotions we run require the new Monzo customer to spend some money with their Monzo card.

The quickest way to meet this requirement is to have your friend add their card to Apple Pay or Google Pay - which they are often able to do even before getting the physical card in the mail šŸ“±

šŸ“„ For our current promotion, anyone you refer to Monzo will have to spend at least $10 with their Monzo card (on eligible purchases) for you to both earn the $20 bonus.

ā„¹ļø Please note: In some cases, new customers of Monzo will have to wait until their physical card arrives before they can add it to their phone's wallet.

If you referred someone and they are having issues adding their card to Apple Pay or Google Pay, it doesn't mean they have done anything wrong.

There are many reasons that, due to limitations on our side, we may not be able to offer certain new customers the ability to add their card to Apple Pay or Google Pay right away. If you know one of these customers, they will have to wait until the physical card arrives in the mail before they can spend with it.

That being said, we typically see that it only takes 4 days for a customer's first card to arrive šŸ“© So it shouldn't be too long before they can finish setting up their Monzo account - and it shouldn't have a major impact on their ability to complete all of the referral requirements in time.
