Why does Monzo need precise location permissions?
In order to accept contactless payments you need to grant precise location permissions when you’re using the Monzo app.
We’ve partnered with Stripe and they require precise location information so they can determine where payments occurred for security reasons.
How do I grant precise location permissions?
Open the Settings menu on your Android device. You can usually find it by tapping the gear-shaped icon in your app or by swiping down from the top of the screen and tapping the gear icon.
In the Settings menu, scroll down and look for "Apps" or "Applications" and tap on it.
In the Apps menu, you'll see a list of all the apps installed on your device. Scroll through the list and locate "Monzo." Tap on it to access the app settings.
Within the Monzo app settings, you'll find various options and permissions. Look for "Permissions" or a similar option and tap on it.
In the Permissions menu, you'll see a list of permissions that the Monzo app can access. Look for "Location" or "Location permission" and tap on it.
On the Location permission screen, you'll find different options for granting location access. Look for an option that mentions "precise" or "exact" location and make sure it is enabled. If it's already enabled, you're good to go. If not, tap the toggle switch or checkbox next to it to grant precise location permissions to Monzo.
After enabling the precise location permission, exit the settings menu, and you're all set! Monzo should now have the necessary permissions to access your precise location.
You can now head back into the Monzo app to take contactless payments!
