Changes to bank statements
We recently made a change to statements to show money ‘movements’ to more accurately reflect what’s happening on your account, including authorisation holds which you didn’t previously see on your statement. These holds temporarily reserve money in your account for a purchase, like when you pay at the pump for fuel.
We haven’t backdated this change so you may see some statements before May that display your transactions a little differently. From May onwards you’ll see the transactions on your statement as they happened, so if you visit a petrol station, you may see a £100 hold, followed by a £70 refund if your purchase was for £30 petrol.
Please continue reading for information on some of these changes.
ℹ️ Please note these changes won’t impact statements in CSV or QIF format for Current accounts, Joint accounts, virtual card on pot statements or US accounts, however, we are applying this change to CSV or QIF format bank statements in Business banking.
Why did we make the change?
Our bank statements were generated with live data when you requested it, meaning statements could be different depending on when it was generated. This meant the information on your statement may not have been accurately reflected.
What statements will this impact?
Current Account statements
Joint Account statements
Virtual Card on Pot statements
Business statements
US Statements
What address will be on my statement?
Statements display the address where you lived during the dates you requested. If you ask for a statement that covers a time when you lived at a different address, that address will be shown.
But if the statement covers a period when you lived at your current address, it will show your current address.
If I change my name, what name will show on my statement?
Statements will now display your legal name during the dates you requested. If you ask for a statement that only covers a time when you had a different legal name, that will be shown. Please note, this only applies to statements from May 23 onwards as the change wasn’t backdated.
